Paper airplane competition

Get together with some friends or members of your family and have a paper airplane competition. The winner is the one who gets their plane to stay in the air the longest.

Materials

  • 1 sheet of blank white paper 21.5 x 28 cm (8.5 x 11 in)
  • 1 paperclip
  • Scotch tape

Instructions

  1. Use only the materials indicated in the above list; you don’t have to use them all.

  2. The plane may be constructed using all or part of the 21.5 x 28 cm sheet of paper.

  3. Label each plane with the "engineer’s" name.

  4. Each person is allowed three throws; record only the best throw.

  5. Begin timing with the throw of the plane and end when the plane hits the floor.

  6. Settle a tie with a throw-off.
