16.  Do stars move?

Stars are so far away, any movement through space is difficult to detect by the naked eye, or within the human life span. Stars do move though. Star movement, called proper motion, changes the shapes of constellations dramatically, but is noticeable only after tens of thousands of years. Astronomers can figure out a constellation's past and future shape by precisely measuring the position of its stars over several years.
