7.  ...who invented the light bulb?

Yes, yes, American Thomas Edison was working on the concept at the same time, but Canadians Henry Woodward and Matthew Evans patented the light bulb in 1875. Edison bought the rights to their patent and unveiled the contraption in 1879. By the way, Edison had investors behind him, apparently Woodward and Evans did not.
